Bob Dickson has owned and operated Furniture Medic in Lexington since 1995. With over 20 years’ experience, Bob has had the chance to work with over 6,000 customers with diverse needs and problems. He hopes to bring his experience to developing the right solution for every project, no matter how large or small. Bob especially enjoys developing custom solutions for commercial applications when others have said, ‘it can’t be done’. Bob is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Economics.
Bob is active in the repair industry both locally and nationally having served on the National Franchise Council for Furniture Medic, as a member of the Board of Director’s for the Claims Prevention and Procedures Council and as Secretary and President of the Bluegrass Claims Association. He was recently reelected to the Board of Directors of the Claims Prevention and Procedures Council for another three-year term. He has been an expert witness in court cases in the state of Kentucky and teaches Continuing Education to professionals in the Insurance industry locally and statewide.
Bob lives with his wonderful wife Shelley of 25 years! They have two wonderful children of whom they are very proud. He is active with his church where he has worked with Youth, Stewardship and Long Term Planning. He and his ‘poker buddies’ prepare meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Lexington several times a year before gathering for a good card game! He is also very active with the Boy Scouts of America where he continues to serve weekly as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Together with his Eagle Scout son, they hiked over 300 miles, paddled nearly 100 miles and spent over 200 nights camping together. Bob will be making his second trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in June where he and ‘his guys’ will backpack just over 100 miles in the high desert.
Bob is very close with his parents including his original business partner, his father. He still fishes with his dad in Kentucky, Florida and their annual trip to fish in Canada which they started when he was 15 years old. He considers himself to be blessed with the many friends he has, the closeness he shares with his coworkers, his friends and his family and the many adventures he’s been privileged to go on over the years.
